Happy Sunday! Just a Closer Walk with Thee

Just A Closer Walk With Thee

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

I am weak, but Thou art strong,
Jesus, keep me from all wrong,
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more,
Guide me gently, safely o’er
To Thy kingdom’s shore, to Thy shore.

Happy Sunday, The Great Storm Edition

This is a very interesting discussion at Hub Pages.

Someone asked “After the Great Flood, How was the world populated?”

Here is information about “Atmospheric Rivers”. They are the explanation for the “Great Storm”

Here is more from Daily Kos

The rest seems to be about the people who did not die in any flood. There were plenty of people outside of Noah’s part of the world so there were plenty of people who were alive and waiting for him and his family.

Happy Sunday: Father’s Day Edition

Fathers who do the right thing or who do the best that they can for their children deserve a day of recognition. They deserve breakfast in bed;  a day of no do-it-yourself projects; and a day free of their loved ones nagging and whining for more.

Fathers are loved more than they ever  know. Fathers stay with us and are with us more than we ever know.

Happy fathers day

Here is what the bible says about the good father.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

–Ephesians 6:4

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

–Proverbs 22:6

Here are some excellent father’s day stories, remembrances and tributes that are worth reading.

Jmac talks about doing the best he can with what he knows.

Myriad writes about her very unique situation growing up with her adoptive father.

Linnnn has a story about a father’s joke gone slightly the wrong way.

Here is some great Spyro Gyra YouTube music for Dads Day!

This is fantastic!

I love plastic animals and I enjoy setting up faux dramas on unlikely surfaces. The color is a bit off, so I’ll scan the study later and replace this image. I believe I’ll head toward this general offbeat theme with occasional scenarios that involve my garden. This was done with oil based printing ink as a monoprint. I later worked back into it with a mechanical pencil for a measure of control. (…and I am still two drawings behind! arghh!) The script narrates the action and my thoughts about it. At some point I was reflecting on the work of Mu Chi, especially his piece including persimmons…but this is nothing like that. 🙂  Here are some close-ups! I prefer them to the entire piece.

Here’s the entire drawing:

Happy Sunday

By Xenonlit

We need to serve in times disaster

We want to serve in times of wrong

We want to serve in times so evil

We want to get to right that fixes

We want to stop the hate and lies

That satisfy our wrong desires

Please let us do the good and right things

Even if they are not easy

And when our profit is not gained

And time is not just for our own

Please let us stop the evil

Please let us block the evil

Even if it stops a lover

Even if it blocks a loved one

Please let us lift a finger

Please let us lift an arm

Even if it pulls a muscle

Even if it hurts a while

Let us stop the look away

Let us stop the covered ear

Let us stop the froze demeanor

Let us stop the i don’t care

Please show a way to do these

Please make a way to do these

Caring acts so sacrificial

Helping acts so unrewarding

Or we will go our way

Or we will go away

Please let us show some better mind

Please let us show some care for others

Even if we leave our comforts

Even if we leave our homes

Even if we enter danger

Even if we give up ours

Or we ourselves will need some mercy

Or we ourselves will go away

Happy Sunday: We are at a terrible crossroads

We are at a terrible crossroads

Where hypocrites, who do not live as they speak

Want power for themselves

Over us and over everyone

We are in a terrible state of being

When those who live

not as they claim to live

Want treasure

More than us, taken from all of us

We are at a terrible crossroads

Where we have just one more chance to give

Great power

Not to act from blame or our resentment

We are in a time of awful change

From the will of the many who give their trust

To the few

And not to those who crow about their wrongs

And if those few are the capering posturers, the clowns

Who have spirits of monsters, of beasts

Then we have failed

And will have to find a mirror to lay the blame

We can vote with our heart, our mind, our conscience and duty

We can refuse to vote for anyone

And be done

And we who tried for the path of right away from wrong

And prayed even with a speck of faith

Will be blessed

Let us pray with our hearts and souls and minds

That false prophets, and crooked fools

Get no power

Pray for blessings for our country

For the truth

For our President

For our people

For our guests

For our environment

For our stewardship

Of the land

The people

The air

The water

The plants

The animals

The birds

The insects

The trees

The life

And to be forgiven

For our vices, mistakes, rage and sins

If we pray, carrying the boulder of our faith

Then the evil will not be empowered here

Or lead us away from our greatest gifts

Of God and Jesus

and their blessings

and their grace.
