Serendipity Photos

I call them serendipity photos. Serendipity is best experienced when we have the open mind and the prepared mind. If we do not have the open mind or the prepared mind, we miss the benefits of the unexpected or the unanticipated event.

This picture was taken at Negro Bar, which is outside of Folsom, California and east of Sacramento, California. This place was where the Black people settled during the great California Gold Rush. Many of them were the skilled tradesmen and workers from the South, able to do just fine in the Golden State.

I had to get into the water to capture this fine, but thin fellow. The odd cloud in the background was not noticed until hours later when the photo could be seen on the large screen.

This is one of my favorite visions, the clear water with barely concealed rocks and soil, and light vortexes. I prefer to paint pictures of the big mountain rocks under clear water like this.

This is the Chaparral of Northern California. Dry as toast. Beautiful and treacherous all at once.
