Alexis Cohen: An American Idol Legend Dies

Alexis Cohen was America’s hidden Idol.  She was the Queen of Flounce. She gave such a memorable performance and exit speech  at the season 7 auditions that we had real tears of pain in our eyes.

Ms. Cohen was killed in a tragic situation. She was found dead, outside, in Seaside Heights, N.J. at 4 a.m., by passersby.

She was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, N.J., where she was pronounced dead around 6:35 a.m.

She was believed to have been hit by a car, but police and the coroner have not yet stated a cause of death.

Her questionable singing did not earn her the complete affection of the Idol judges, especially Simon Cowell, who compared her to “The Green Goblin” as portrayed by Willem Dafoe.

But Ms Cohen’s artistic, passionate and profanity laced reactions to rejection made her an Idol legend.

She made appearances on “Live with Regis and Kelly,” “The View” and “Extra.” She also earned an interview with shock jock Howard Stern.

Here is a tribute to Ms. Cohen, and condolences to her loved ones. May she, an American Idol legend and inspiration to all of us who have ever been rejected and compared to The Green Goblin, as portrayed by Willem Dafoe, rest in peace.

Her memorable American Idol, season 7 audition

When the truth is found to be lies

and all of the joy Within you dies

Don’t you want somebody to love

Don’t you need somebody to love

Wouldn’t you love somebody to love

You’d better find somebody to love

RIP, Alexis
