On Thursday, Serena whupped Elena Dementieva, 6-7 (4), 7-5, 8-6, in 2 hours, 49 minutes. This was the longest women’s semifinal at Wimbledon in about 40 years.
Meanwhile, Venus took only 51 minutes to nuke Dinara Safina 6-1, 6-0 and achieve her eighth Wimbledon final. This was the most one sided final since Billie Jean King v. Rosie Casals (1969)
Venus: Five-time winner at Wimbledon
Serena: Two-time champion.
